The BARRELROOM located inside Ballandean Estate has long been a top class restaurant. It has a consistent reputation for high quality dining developed over many years. Originally Mary Puglisi used to serve hearty style home cooked meals in the restaurant. When Mary retired, quite a few yeas ago, the restaurant was leased by qualified chefs. Currently it is being run by Matt an Bobbi Wells. Matt and Bobbi were previously plying their gastronomic expertise at The BARRELROOM for five years – I remember them very well indeed! They left for three years during which the restaurant was leased by Travis Crane and Arabella Chambers who maintained the gourmet excellence bar set high by Matt and Bobbi.

July 2019 marked the return of Matt and Bobbi to The BARRELROOM so the pedigree continues in a kind of back to the future situation. Myself and family and many friends have often dined at the BARRELROOM for over a decade now and we have thoroughly enjoyed our meals on every occasion. Lunch or dinner in this restaurant is on my must do list every time I visit the region.

The wines on the restaurant wine list are, as you would expect for a vineyard restaurant, all Ballandean Estate wines. The wine list situation adds a nice touch to the experience because, if you are having lunch or arrive for dinner before the cellar door is closed, you can taste a range of wines to decide beforehand what to order with your meals.
