Varias Restaurant is located inside the Queensland College of Wine and Tourism. This is a restaurant that has always aspired to and successfully maintained a very high standard. Some of the staff are college students completing their training, they are very well trained and expertly supervised in the restaurant environment.
Whenever I visit the region I always stay in the southern end so calling in to Varias for lunch on the way through has become a staple. I have been doing this for many years and Varias has never disappointed.
The college makes a range of wines under the label Banca Ridge. You can taste the full range at the bar inside Varias restaurant. The Banca Ridge Petit Verdot has been consistently good among the red wines. A few years ago Varias began offering wines from other local vineyards, this list has been expanded and now you can order wines from a range of local vineyards to have with your lunch or dinner.
Varias has a beautiful fireplace inside the restaurant which keeps you nicely warm in winter. Be sure to book in advance and, especially in winter, book a table inside the restaurant as there are other outside tables but it can get very chilly on The Granite Belt in winter. As a frequent visitor to Varias I can unreservedly recommended this restaurant to everyone.
