Ridgemill Estate 2018 Pinot Noir

Open fermented, pressed and matured in old French Oak, no whole bunch. Ruby red in the glass and as you swirl the edges are an enticing reflective light red rose petal colour … promising start!

Very redolent cherries (red & black), raspberries, some spice & earthiness together with some sour fruit aromas. This light to medium bodied wine has a long, smooth and gliding palate supported by silky & slinky ripe tannins as it gently caresses you with a high enjoyability factor from “hi there” to “well I bet you liked that” along the entire length of your very tasty buds. There are red and sour black cherries, raspberries, an almost mouth puckering savouriness, perhaps some granitic soil, a little spice (probably from the old oak). Sometimes the description for the finish of a very good pinot is ‘a peacocks tail’, if you haven’t heard that applied to pinot and would like to know what it means, grab a few of these!

2018 was a very good vintage for reds on The Granite Belt, James Halliday has rated it as a 10/10, I think he’s on the money.
