Pyramids Road Wines 2022 Mourvèdre

A very wet vintage but this vineyard is tended with exquisite meticulous care and Mourvèdre is a late ripening variety.

Colours are bright mulberry purple at the meniscus receding to dark and deeply impenetrable as you approach the glass depths.2022 Mourvèdre The wine glows with a welcoming radiance that you will likely find irresistible.

This very fragrant wine wafts spicy black fruits with genuine zeal and perfumes those wafts with earth, a little oak and liquorice.

The palate is rounded and mouth filling and then that big flavoursome mouthfeel is gathered together and pulled through a drying chalky very elongated tunnel that is utterly delightful and especially so for anyone who truly appreciates the initially subtle and then mounting power of tannins. What a journey this wine takes you on! The darkest of very savoury black berries with a little mulberry are melded into some aniseed and star anise lightly sprinkled with tiny amounts of cardamon and then from the depths springs a complex meatiness melded in earthy qualities, the young acid adds some genuine verve, the background oak adds a little vanilla flavour and, once again, the drawing power of those tannins is superb.

Another brilliant Mourvèdre from the local maestro of the variety. Don’t hesitate, get some!
