Banca Ridge Winery 2019 Grüner Veltliner

The famous grape of Austria, in ground at the Queensland College of Wine Tourism.

Well developed colours in the glass, golden with some greenish hues but probably not from early wine development instead I suspect the influence of skin colour from the drought vintage.2019 Grüner Veltliner

A bouquet ruled by lemon floating in a fresh spice garden.

The palate is exhilarated with lemon rind, nectarines, green apple, some packham pear a little asparagus and white pepper. The acidity is enlivening and propels the wine with considerable power there is also a sour lemon presence and a huge mineral taste crunches along the palatal line.

On a hot March day in Brisbane this wine was a joyous match to a Thai dish focusing around duck in tamarind sauce. This is a fantastic food wine, a zealot and a perfectionist cleansing and revivifying your palate making each subsequent taste of food a new delight.
