Heritage Estate Wines 2019 Fiano

An Italian grape from Avellino first planted in Australia by Coriole in McLaren Vale and now really thriving in patches on The Granite Belt.

A welcoming light straw colour in the glass, the bouquet is very redolent with stone fruits, tropical fruits, citrus blossoms and a nuttiness – something I often encounter in good Fianos. The wine is quite textural and medium bodied, it coats the entire inside of your mouth with an arrangement of flavours cue’d from the bouquet but queue’d on the palate. There are stone fruits, some apples, tangy tropicals, and progressing to a slight lemony presence which precedes a long crisp mineral like finish. So the effect is that the wine really coats your mouth with it’s textural presence, lingers there with perfect precision timing and then heads off towards the finish in a long straight line of slightly puckering mineral like acidity.

I do like a well made Fiano, I am happy : )
