Ravens Croft Wines 2021 ‘Raven’ Rosé

Mostly Sangiovese fruit with some other local GI fruit in the mix. The greater volume of fruit came from Duncan Ferrier’s rather excellent Rosemary Hill Vineyard.

Deep reddish pink in the glass with some copper hues,2021 rosé really quite stunning to look at in the glass. Delicate light floral red fruits waft from the glass and some spice almost tingles your nose.

A little slightly sweet red cherry provides a palatal introduction and then follow strawberries and some tangy wild raspberries. Allspice and cumin lifts and energises the fruit further as the flavours race toward an exceptionally long dry finish that very energetically squeezes your mouth and tongue with a frisson of tangy drying excitement. I must confess that I drink very little rosé but the emphatic presence of this wine could change that. The acidity and bursting flavours in this wine are something to experience I’d say drink it now!

You could pair this wine with Thai or Chinese food or it would be enjoyable to munch on some prosciutto or salami while sipping this vibrant and frisky rosé.
