Bungawarra Wines 2017 Gewürztraminer

2017 was a great vintage for whites on The Granite Belt. I believe Bungawarra has the only Gewürz in the ground on The Granite Belt. I only bought 3 of these and my database says I still have one left but I can’t find it, so now I’m facing one of those regretful should have bought more moments, especially as the 2023 Brisbane summer is invading late March.2017 gewürztraminer

A lovely radiant lemony gold glistens in the glass – very bright and reflective.

The bouquet floats a fragrant lavender and lemon, wafts turkish delight and roses, and spikes the redolence with pepper, fennel and cardamon.

The palate is a gentle complex delight. The wine is dry with some driving acidity but it’s footprint is delicate and decidedly delicious. Lemony acidity caresses turkish delight, hints of subdued lime rind twist through the flow a floral garden presence gently kisses your taste buds and the entire experience is energised, but respectfully, by spices evident on the bouquet, pepper, fennel, cardamon and cumin which present just beyond the fruit and reinvigorate it by sprinkling their picante qualities with a light flourish so the late and longer palate is such a lavish lingering light luxurious mouthfeel.

If you have some of this I suspect you’ve been blessed by both Bacchus and Dionysus!
