Hidden Creek 2021 Syrah

Contains a small amount of Viognier probably 1% which seems to do the job nicely. Purple and red in the glass but more in the red spectrum, signals a true syrah style.2021 syrah

Very fresh red fruits on the nose – raspberries red cherries and red plums, garrigue, dried herbs and spice.

The palate wears a small viognier signature evidenced by a slightly soft, silky and smooth mouthfeel around the edges but the fruits are fresh and vibrantly drive through the viognier layering. Red cherries and red plums present energetic flavours spiked with black pepper influenced with great subtlety by cinnamon, the Granite Belt acidity has some verve adding lift and vigour to the palatal experience and the tannins are rather svelte. There are noticeable mineral flavours as the wine extends with some genuine length and the oak exercises reverent respect to all the other components. Certainly a lovely syrah style from Andy Williams and the team at Hidden Creek, the wine has loads of interest and will pair beautifully with a wide range foods.
