Ridgemill Estate 2019 Pinot G

Peter McGlashan was trying to confuse us with this wine label. The Front Label says Pinot G and the back, in smaller font, reads Pinot Grigio. Fair enough each person needs to let their own palate decide and there was bigger fruit than usual on The Granite Belt in the 2019 vintage so a Gris would be an easy outcome however, for me, this one is still a Grigio style.2019 pinot grigio

Light gold and bronze hues in the glass, the bouquet is a presentation of nashi pear, lemony citrus florals and juice, touches of apple and spice. The palate expresses similar experiences with pears, apples with a little crunch, lithe lemon juice with some barely detectable rind flavours, a bright river of flowing refreshing acid which carries minerals and fennel spice. More about tension than texture this is superb drinking and will be a great accompaniment to summer seafood salad dishes. Seems to be still available according to the Ridgemill Estate web site shop – get some while you still can.
