If you’ve never tried a Nebbiolo Rosé then it’s time. There can’t be a lot of them, last one I tasted was many years ago made by Coriole and I’ve never forgotten it. Nebbiolo fruit offers the potential of making a very ‘grown up’ rosé and this one by Dawn Walker is masterful.
One of the more beautiful presentations I have seen in rosé the colours are in the rose gold and pale pink salmon spectrum, vibrant and inviting.
A very redolent wine, fragrant with lightly unfurling strawberries, pink lady apples, gentle raspberry, subtle almonds, slights of sour cherries, some white pepper and freshly crushed mineral granite.
The palate features a refreshing and quenching acidity that entices you to return. Sour raspberries, red apple, pepper, very fresh red cherries, lovely fine minerally grainy tannins. A beautifully balanced wine with seamless transitions combined with great definition. This is such a great rosé style, one of the best rosé wines I’ve tasted in years.
The fruit for this 2023 was a little more ripe than the 2022, this seems to have created a wine of greater complexity while still retaining crisp and lively acidity.
